Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Austria to establish a K-9 (Dog) training unit aimed at boosting security and crime detection in the state. Governor Mbah made this announcement on his official X handle on Thursday, emphasizing the initiative as part of his administration’s broader strategy for investment and partnerships.

During his visit to Vienna, Austria, Governor Mbah engaged with senior government officials, the business community, and international development partners. He described the meetings as highly productive, highlighting the signing of the MOU with Austrian Minister of Interior, Gerhard Karner, as a significant outcome.

“We had productive exchanges, which, among others, culminated in the signing of an MOU between the Austrian Minister of Interior, Gerhard Karner, and me for establishing a K-9 training unit in Enugu State to boost security and crime detection,” Mbah stated.

This development comes shortly after Governor Mbah secured a N100 billion deal with a newly registered company, underscoring his administration’s proactive approach to fostering economic growth and security improvements.

Additionally, Governor Mbah held discussions with Austrian Minister of Agriculture, Norbert Totschnig, about creating an agricultural model region in Enugu. The proposed project, which would span 2,000 to 5,000 hectares, aims to replicate Austria’s cooperative agricultural success.

While expressing optimism about these initiatives, Governor Mbah acknowledged the challenges ahead, noting the infrastructural and economic hurdles that must be addressed to realize such large-scale transformations in Enugu State.
