National Security Adviser Denies Allegations of Providing Air Transport for Deposed Emir’s Return to Kano

Abuja, Nigeria – The National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has refuted claims that he facilitated air transport for the deposed Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado-Bayero, to return to the state.

Governor Abba Yusuf’s reinstatement of Lamido Sanusi as the 16th Emir of Kano prompted allegations that Ribadu provided a private jet to assist the deposed emir’s return.

Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, the Kano State deputy governor, asserted that Ribadu arranged for two aircraft to transport the sacked monarch back to Kano, claiming the former emir was clandestinely brought into the city.

However, in response to the allegations, Ribadu categorically denied any involvement, labelling the claims as false.

Mallam Zakari Mijinyawa, the spokesman of the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), echoed Ribadu’s denial, emphasizing that Ribadu did not provide air transport for anyone to Kano.

Mijinyawa urged political actors to refrain from spreading misinformation, particularly as law enforcement officials in the state work to maintain peace and order.

The denial from Ribadu’s office comes amidst heightened tensions following the reinstatement of Lamido Sanusi and the subsequent controversy surrounding the return of the deposed emir.
