Contrary to circulating rumors, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, the esteemed leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, is alive and in good health. The news of his demise, which surfaced in the early hours of Sunday, has been debunked by Sola Ebisieni, the national secretary of Afenifere.
In a telephone interview, Ebisieni clarified that Pa Adebanjo is hale and hearty, emphasizing that they were together just last night for a meeting with other Yoruba leaders. He categorically stated, “Pa Ayo Adebanjo, our leader, is alive, he is hale and hearty. He has even directed me this morning to issue a statement to that effect.”
The misconception appears to have arisen from confusion with another individual, Ayo Banjo, the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, who passed away on Friday. Ebisieni attributed the false reports to mistaken identity, affirming that it was indeed Ayo Banjo whose demise was announced, not the revered leader of Afenifere.
With Pa Ayo Adebanjo in good health, Afenifere supporters and well-wishers can breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that their respected leader continues to guide and inspire the Yoruba community.
