Kaduna-Abuja Train Derails at Jere, Passengers Safe

Kaduna, Nigeria – A Kaduna-Abuja train derailed at Jere, Kaduna, just an hour after its departure on Sunday morning. The train, which left Kaduna at 8:05 am, experienced the derailment incident with dozens of passengers on board.

Three carriages were reported to have skidded off the tracks during the journey. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of injuries or fatalities.

Security personnel, including the Nigeria Police and Army, were promptly deployed to the scene to ensure the safety and security of passengers and provide necessary support.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has confirmed the incident and dispatched a team to investigate the cause of the derailment. In a statement, the NSIB said, “NSIB is aware of a derailment of an Abuja-bound train from Kaduna which occurred halfway into the journey at Jere. A go team has been deployed to the site of the accident.”

However, the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has not yet issued any official comment on the incident.

Efforts are ongoing to investigate the cause of the derailment and ensure the safety of the railway system. Further updates are expected as the situation develops.
