President Tinubu Urges Governors to Prioritize Grassroots Development

President Bola Tinubu has raised concerns over the inadequate delivery of democracy dividends at the grassroots level, urging state governors to focus on the needs of local communities. Speaking during a meeting with the leadership of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, Tinubu emphasized the importance of addressing issues affecting the grassroots, where he noted a significant portion of electoral votes originate.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngalale, President Tinubu underscored the need for governors to pay urgent attention to the welfare of people in local councils. He called for accountability in local governance, questioning the effectiveness of the 774 local government areas in delivering essential services and coordinating development programs with state and federal authorities.

President Tinubu also addressed other critical issues including education, security, and national unity. He expressed dismay over the high number of out-of-school children in Nigeria and emphasized the importance of investing in education for nation-building. Additionally, he commended efforts by the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, in enhancing security measures and pledged to prioritize national security.

In his appeal for national unity and support for his administration, President Tinubu directed the establishment of a committee to follow up on the discussed issues, with Senator George Akume assigned to lead the follow-up efforts.
