Ipswich, Massachusetts – Animal rescuers and firefighters in Massachusetts executed a dramatic rescue after an 8-year-old Lipizzaner gelding named Valcour fell through the floor of his stable, becoming trapped between the stories.
The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (MSPCA) Angell office shared on social media that their Large Animal Rescue Team was dispatched to the scene after Valcour’s fall left him in a precarious position.
Collaborating with the Ipswich Fire Department, personnel from SRH Veterinary Services, and the Northeast Massachusetts Technical Rescue Team, the rescuers devised a plan to hoist Valcour to safety.
“It took about four hours and the help of everyone, but we were able to get this sweet horse out with no life-threatening injuries,” the MSPCA’s post stated. Valcour is expected to make a full recovery, and his owners reported that he was already walking around normally the next day.

This successful rescue highlights the teamwork and dedication of multiple agencies in ensuring the safety and well-being of animals in distress.
