Rema’s hit track ‘Calm Down’ has become the first Afrobeats song to surpass one billion on-demand streams in the United States, as disclosed by Chart Data on Sunday.

Released in February 2022 as part of Rema’s debut album ‘Rave and Roses’, the song, featuring a remix with Selena Gomez, has broken numerous records, including becoming the longest-charting African song on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieving platinum status in the UK.

With over 894 million views on YouTube as of June 17, the remix is the most-viewed Nigerian music video. Rema, signed to D’Prince’s Jonzing World under Mavin Records, continues to be a significant figure in African music, earning accolades such as ‘Best Male Artiste’ and ‘Digital Artiste Of The Year’ at the 16th Headies.
