NEW YORK — Approximately 580,000 JoyJolt-branded “Declan Single Wall Glass Coffee Mugs” are being recalled across the United States following reports of dozens of burn and laceration injuries, according to a Thursday notice from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC).

The recall stems from incidents where the glass mugs cracked or broke when filled with hot liquids. The CPSC reported 103 cases of the mugs breaking at the base, resulting in 56 injuries. Among these, 35 incidents involved burns from spilled hot liquids and 21 involved cuts, with seven cases requiring medical intervention such as surgery and stitches.

The affected 16-ounce coffee mugs, distributed by New York-based MM Products Inc., were sold online at JoyJolt’s website and Amazon.com from September 2019 through May 2022. The mugs were available in sets of six, priced between $20 and $25. The recalled items can be identified by model number JG10242, found on the product packaging and order confirmation.

Consumers who own these recalled mugs are advised to stop using them immediately and contact MM Products for a full refund. Registration for the refund is available online at JoyJolt’s recall page.

In a statement on the recall page, the company emphasized, “Your safety is our top priority,” and expressed appreciation for affected customers’ understanding and cooperation.
