Nollywood icon Amaechi Muonagor was laid to rest on Friday in his Obosi country home in Idemili South Local Government Area of Anambra State, amidst an outpouring of grief from family members, relatives, and the Nollywood community.
Notable attendees included Peter Obi, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, and Anambra State Commissioner for Culture, Tourism and Entertainment, Dom Onyenji, among others, who gathered to mourn the beloved actor.
In his condolence speech, Peter Obi lamented the loss of Muonagor, urging the bereaved family to find solace and praying for the repose of his soul.
Dom Onyenji, reflecting on the impact of Muonagor’s death, remarked that Nollywood had lost a creative personality. He affirmed that the Anambra State government was present to mourn alongside Nollywood, acknowledging the actor’s significant contributions and mentorship within the industry.
Emeka Ejezie, the National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), represented by veteran actor Steve Eboh, extended his condolences, praising the deceased as a great man. He prayed for divine strength for the family to bear the loss.
Mrs. Chinyere Anyaegbunam, the state chairman of AGN, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, emphasizing that Muonagor was a cherished figure who served as a mentor to many in the film industry. She highlighted his role as a father figure and the invaluable guidance he provided to numerous actors.
