Germany forward Thomas Muller has hinted at his international retirement following his country’s elimination from Euro 2024. Germany suffered a 2-1 defeat to Spain in the quarter-finals held in Stuttgart on Friday.

Spain’s Dani Olmo opened the scoring in the 51st minute, but Germany equalised through Florian Wirtz in the 89th minute. The match seemed destined for extra time when Mikel Merino netted the decisive goal in the 119th minute, securing Spain’s spot in the semi-finals.

After the match, Muller suggested he may have played his last game for Germany. Speaking to Sky Sport (via Fabrizio Romano), he said, “It’s very likely that this was my last game with Germany, yes.”

Muller, who made his senior debut for Germany in 2010, has been a key player for the national team for over a decade.
