The mid-season finale of “Power Book II: Ghost” has left fans at the edge of their seats, as the drama has intensified over the past five episodes. With tensions running high, characters Dru (Lovell Adams-Gray) and Diana (LaToya Tonodeo) are at the centre of the storm, navigating through secrets and lies that have rocked the Tejada household.
VIBE Interview Highlights with LaToya Tonodeo and Lovell Adams-Gray

VIBE: Dru and Diana are characters we empathize with, yet their decisions often leave us questioning their motives. Do you think there’s a chance for them to have a normal life, and what would that look like?
LaToya Tonodeo: I don’t believe there’s a chance for them to have a normal life. As we’ve seen in the flashbacks, they grew up in this environment. There is no normal life for the Tejadas at all.
Lovell Adams-Gray: I think there could be a semblance of a normal life with the intervention of Jesus and maybe some therapy. They need to understand what they’ve been through and name it. If Dru and Diana can keep their hearts open, there could be some reconciliation, but it will take a lot of work.
VIBE: Cane’s relationship with Monét is different from that of Dru and Diana. Why do you think that is?
Tonodeo: Cane has always been Monét’s soldier. He does exactly what she wants, unlike Dru and Diana, who are more independent and question her decisions.
Adams-Gray: In one flashback, Dru’s first kill was under Monét’s guidance, showing how she molded him into a tougher figure. Dru’s heart might still be open to closeness, but it’s a defense mechanism.
VIBE: Diana ran to Salim in her time of need. Is she used to finding solace in men due to her complicated relationship with her mother and father?
Tonodeo: Diana had no one else to turn to. With everything happening, she felt she could trust Salim. She also wanted to apologize for what she did because she felt guilty.
VIBE: How do you think the big secret revealed this season will affect everyone moving forward?
Adams-Gray: There’s going to be a lot of energy towards trying to regain what was lost. Each character will have their own perspective on how to restore trust and love within the family.
Tonodeo: I hope that a pregnancy could bring the family together, as babies are supposed to.
VIBE: With Janet’s presence, do you think Diana might move to Atlanta and start over?
Tonodeo: Yo no se.
VIBE: What are Dru and Diana’s end goals when everything is said and done?
Adams-Gray: Their end goal is to gain true independence. They want to make decisions for themselves and possibly start a business.
Tonodeo: It’s about finding true independence because we’ve been under our mother’s thumb for so long.
VIBE: With the truth out, how do they navigate from here?
Adams-Gray: Leaning on family as much as possible.
Tonodeo: Yes, it always comes back to that blood-related loyalty.
“Power Book II: Ghost” returns on September 6 for the second part of its final season, promising more twists and intense drama.
