The Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza has become the main medical facility for the northern part of the Palestinian enclave as Israel’s military deepens its offensive on Gaza City, forcing the closure of many hospitals and clinics in the area.
Dozens of patients are being treated at the hospital after the main medical facility in Gaza City was shut down. Hospital director Marawan al-Sultan described the situation as “catastrophic” and warned that the lack of fuel for electrical generators is putting patients at risk.
On Tuesday, the hospital received 80 patients and wounded individuals from al-Ahly Hospital in eastern Gaza City, which was closed due to intense fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas fighters.
Israeli airstrikes on Bureij in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday resulted in the deaths of at least four children and injured four others, according to hospital authorities. The bodies were transported to the Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
Egypt and Qatar, with the help of the United States, are working to broker a cease-fire and end the ongoing nine-month war between Hamas and Israel.
Israeli troops continued to fight militants in areas in northern Gaza that the army claimed had been cleared months ago. Despite military orders for evacuations before raids, many Palestinians feel there is no safe place.
The war has claimed more than 38,000 lives in Gaza, according to the Health Ministry.
