Osun State Governor Establishes Committee to Implement Staff Audit Report
Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has taken a significant step towards reforming the state’s public service by setting up an implementation committee to review and act on the final staff audit report. The committee will be chaired by the Chief of Staff, Kazeem Akinleye, and will comprise representatives from various stakeholders.
The governor made this announcement during the submission of the final audit report by the state staff audit consultant, Sally Tibot Consult, on Wednesday in Osogbo. The report was concluded after a thorough audit exercise, and the consultant, Saadat Bakrin Ottun, commended the state government for the opportunity to work on the project.
The governor expressed his commitment to pursuing public service reform to a logical conclusion, stating that his administration has done a lot to reposition the public service. He emphasized the importance of workers’ welfare, noting that the state government has been paying salaries regularly and repaying inherited salary and pension debts.
The governor also highlighted the need to block loopholes in the salary system, reiterating that the process is not meant to witch hunt anyone, but rather for the collective good. He emphasized that the committee will study the report, assess the recommendations, and take action to implement them, while also considering the implications of the recommendations on the public service.
The members of the implementation committee include representatives from the Chief of Staff’s office, the Head of Service, the Attorney General’s Office, labor unions, and other stakeholders. The committee’s terms of reference include reviewing the report, assessing the recommendations, taking action to implement the recommendations, and considering all other issues related to the subject.
The establishment of this committee is a significant step towards implementing the staff audit report and reforming the public service in Osun State.
