Military on High Alert as DHQ Reveals Plans by Boko Haram and ISWAP to Attack Nigeria’s Critical Infrastructure

Nigerian Military Warns of Boko Haram, ISWAP’s Plans to Attack Critical Infrastructure

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has raised the alarm over plans by the Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) and Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) to attack critical infrastructure in the country. According to reports, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, made this known while briefing newsmen on the operations of the armed forces in Abuja.

Buba revealed that intelligence has uncovered plans by the insurgents to target critical infrastructure, and consequently, the military and security agencies have taken measures to forestall the attacks. He cited that some of these plans have already been frustrated.

The military spokesperson called on citizens to support their efforts in fighting against terrorists by exposing collaborators living among them in their communities. He emphasized that these terrorists are the enemy that must be fought and defeated.

Buba also warned that the military’s strategy is to force the terrorists to pay a price for every act of aggression against citizens. "We must never compromise on security, otherwise everyone’s security will be compromised. The military is doing what is needed to protect our citizens and our nation," he emphasized.

The Defence Headquarters has vowed to do everything necessary to safeguard the nation and its people, emphasizing that the fight is to preserve their way of life as a people.

This warning comes at a time when insecurity is on the rise in the country, with reports of attacks by Boko Haram and ISWAP on civilian targets. The authorities’ efforts to combat these threats are essential to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens.
