NYSC Director General Assures Corps Members of Top Priority on Security and Welfare

In a recent visit to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State, Nigeria, Brig. Gen YD Ahmed, Director General of the NYSC, emphasized the importance of the security and welfare of Corps members. Ahmed, who is the representative of President Tinubu’s administration, expressed his commitment to ensuring the well-being of the young Nigerians serving in the NYSC.

During his visit, Ahmed commended the Corps members for their high level of discipline and encouraged them to continue adhering to the rules and regulations of the Scheme. He also spoke about the significance of the NYSC SAED programme, which aims to empower Corps members to become self-reliant and future employers of labor.

The Director General further advised the Corps members to prioritize their personal security by being vigilant at all times and to read the security tips booklet provided to them. He also cautioned them against posting NYSC activities on social media, as this could compromise their safety.

Additionally, Ahmed warned the Corps members against engaging in unnecessary adventures and night journeys due to the dangers on the road. He encouraged them to take responsibility for their personal security and to avoid taking unnecessary risks.

The State Coordinator, Mrs Okpalifo Obiageli Charity, briefed the Director General on the camp situation, stating that the Corps members have adjusted well to the regimented lifestyle and have shown high levels of discipline by actively participating in all camp activities.

The visit by Ahmed serves as a reminder of the importance of the NYSC in promoting national unity, discipline, and self-reliance among Nigerian youth.
