Renowned American actress Shelley Duvall has left this world, passing away at the age of 75. Her partner, Dan Gilroy, confirmed the devastating news to The Hollywood Reporter, revealing that Duvall’s death was caused by complications from diabetes.
According to Gilroy, Duvall died peacefully in her sleep at her Blanco, Texas, home on Thursday. “My dear, sweet, wonderful life partner and friend left us. Too much suffering lately, now she’s free. Fly away, beautiful Shelley,” he poignantly said.
Duvall embarked on her acting career in the 1970s, making her mark in the dark comedy “Brewster McCloud”. Her standout performance earned her the Cannes Film Festival’s Best Actress award for her role in the 1977 drama “3 Women”. Just three years later, she starred alongside Robin Williams in Robert Altman’s musical version of “Popeye”, playing the iconic role of Olive Oyl.
