Zamfara APC Crisis: Jaji Faction Emerges Amid Leadership Tussle

Zamfara APC Embroiled in Fresh Crisis as Faction Emerges

In what appears to be a worrying development for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara State, Nigeria, a fresh faction has emerged, further deepening the already polarized party structure.

Addressing a press conference in Gusau on Wednesday, Honourable Aminu Abubakar MC, the chairman of the Sani Jaji-led APC faction, announced that his group decided to create a new faction because the party leaders have failed to unite the party due to selfish interests.

According to Abubakar, the party leaders’ actions have led to disunity among party members, and despite attempts to raise concerns, they have been met with refusal to listen.

"The stakeholders’ reconciliation meeting was a slap in the face," Abubakar said, expressing disgust at the initiative by the former governor of the state and now Defence Minister, Honourable Bello Mohammed Matawalle, to resolve the crisis. "Nobody from our camp was invited, and we have raised questions about the sincerity of those claiming to be party leaders."

With tensions running high, Abubakar queried, "How can the state chapter of the APC be complete without Honourable Sani Jaji? If Honourable Sani Jaji is not a stakeholder of the APC in Zamfara State, who else can we call a stakeholder?"

The fresh development has brought the total number of APC factions in Zamfara State to three, each led by Honourable Sani Jaji, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa, and Honourable Bello Mohammed. This latest crisis is set to hinder the party’s chances in future elections.

As the situation unfolds, Nigerians are left to ponder the sustainability of the APC in the region amidst these internal conflicts.
