Nigeria Police Forces Dismisses Corporal Buba Adamu for Refusal to Report to New Post

In a shocking move, the Nigeria Police Force has dismissed Corporal Buba Adamu for his consistent refusal to report to his new post in Kaduna State. According to reports, Adamu was transferred from the Cross River Command to Kaduna nine years ago but failed to report to his new base, instead choosing to operate illegally and carry out his own activities in Calabar.

The news was made public at a press briefing held on Thursday by the spokesperson for the Cross River Police Command, SP Irene Ugbo, at the state capital, Calabar. During the briefing, Ugbo revealed that Adamu had been operating as a "mobile police officer" without any supervision or reporting to a specific police command since 2015. Despite this, he was reportedly receiving his salary without performing his duties.

Adamu’s illegal activities were allegedly exposed by concerned members of the Nasarawa community, a Hausa-Fulani settlement in Calabar municipality who had suffered at the hands of the disgraced corporal. The community leaders raised the alarm when they learned that the police command was under pressure to release Adamu following his arrest.

As a result of the breach of trust and disobedience of instructions, Adamu has been relieved of his duties and is no longer a serving police officer. The Nigeria Police has also retrieved all items of property belonging to them, including uniforms, identification cards, and others, from his possession. The matter has now been charged in court and left to the judiciary to decide.

This scandalous incident highlights the need for greater accountability and transparency within the police force. It is essential to address such cases of corruption and misconduct, ensuring that those who break the law are held accountable and that trust is restored in the institution.
