In a candid conversation on the ‘Talk To B’ podcast, Nigerian actress Binta Ayo Mogaji, also known as Mama Insurance, shared her inspiring journey of becoming a mother at the age of 40. The Nollywood veteran revealed that she underwent surgery to remove one of her fallopian tubes due to an ectopic pregnancy, but still managed to give birth to her child naturally.
Mogaji explained that she had always been open to the idea of adopting a child if she didn’t have her own by the time she turned 40. However, she got pregnant naturally a few weeks after her 40th birthday. The actress said she was determined to have a child, regardless of whether she got married or not.
“I stopped looking for a husband; I wanted to make a baby. I said if I don’t have a baby until I’m 40, then I’ll adopt a child,” Mogaji stated.
The movie star also revealed that she had a non-traditional family arrangement at the time, as the father of her son was not interested in getting married. Mogaji gave birth to her son six weeks after turning 40, and she and her partner, Jibola, started their family without the traditional wedding bells.
