Nollywood Actress Ayo Mogaji Reveals Shocking Reasons for End of 13-Year Marriage

Veteran Nollywood Actress Reveals Abusive Marriage with Retired Footballer

Ayo Mogaji, a renowned actress in Nigeria’s film industry, has broken her silence on why she left her 13-year marriage to retired footballer, Victor Ayodele Oduleye. In an interview with actress Biola Bayo on the ‘Talk To Be’ podcast, Mogaji disclosed that her marriage was marred by abuse.

The actress, who had a 20-year-old son with actor Jibola Dabo, whom she referred to as her boyfriend, before marrying Oduleye in 2006, shared her harrowing experience. She revealed that her husband subjected her to physical and mental abuse, even in their home in England.

“We fell in love with each other, but we received beating over any little thing,” Mogaji said, recounting the early days of their relationship. “Even in England, the abusive language, the mental torture, the physical abuse. When it gets too much, I will advise anybody to get out of that marriage.”

The actress recalled feeling trapped in the marriage, often escaping to the outside compound to avoid her husband’s abuse. “We were in it for like thirteen years, and we have been separated for four years now,” she said, looking back on her tumultuous marriage.

Mogaji’s decision to speak out about her experiences may serve as a cautionary tale for others who may be going through similar situations. Her courage in sharing her story is a testament to her strength and resilience.

It is essential for individuals to recognize the signs of abusive relationships and seek help when necessary. Mogaji’s account serves as a reminder that no one deserves to be subjected to such treatment, and it is crucial to prioritize one’s safety and well-being above all else.
