Partnership Aims to Improve Emergency Medical Care for Nigeria’s Oil and Gas Workers

A groundbreaking partnership between Nesto Aviation Services, ADAC HEMS Academy Germany, and Kasi Healthcare Offshore and Aeromedical Unit has been launched to improve access to emergency medical care for workers in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The partnership aims to provide a dedicated critical care aircraft for injured personnel in the golden hour, as well as transport for stroke victims, heart attack patients, and traumatic injuries with complications.

The partnership will prioritize training local doctors, nurses, and paramedics, creating jobs and building long-term capacity within the region. The Air Ambulance service will utilize a King Air Aircraft operated by NestAV, equipped with advanced medical equipment and a trained aeromedical team from Kasi Healthcare Offshore and Aeromedical Unit.

According to Ehis Uadiale, General Manager of Nesto Aviation Services, the partnership will focus on servicing medical emergencies occurring at remote locations across West Africa and offshore locations in the Gulf of Guinea. The service will also include transport for patients who would otherwise have limited access to emergency services in the golden hour.

Dr. Ernest Obiejesi, Chairman of Nestoil Group, emphasized the significance of the partnership, stating that it represents a significant leap forward in providing critical medical care across offshore and remote locations in the Gulf of Guinea. "By bringing together our collective strengths, we are establishing a world-class Air Ambulance and HEMS programme that will have a profound impact on the health and well-being of workers in the oil industry across the region," he said.

The partnership has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding, paving the way for the development of aeromedical capacity across more than 180 remote oil and gas locations within the Gulf of Guinea. The agreement will see the establishment of a training site linked to the ADAC HEMS Academy, recognized by the American Heart Association, and the qualification of Nigerian instructors.

The Medical Director of KASI, Dr. Dayo Osholowu, expressed pride in working with two organizations licensed by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, both committed to safety and excellence. "We are committed to ensuring the success of this programme and empowering local healthcare professionals," he said.

This partnership marks a significant step towards improving emergency medical care for workers in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, and its impact will be felt across the region.
