Shakira’s Copa America Performance Under Fire: Alexi Lalas Slams Organizers

Former American footballer Alexi Lalas has sparked controversy by blasting the organizers of the 2024 Copa America final over Shakira’s music concert. The Colombian singer was booked to perform at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida, but Lalas claimed that she was let down by the event’s production team.

Speaking on his State of the Union podcast, Lalas shared his disappointment with Shakira’s performance, stating that it was not historic or memorable. He pointed out that the lack of backup dancers and poor lighting during the concert made it look abnormal. "It begged for backup dancers, and she was solo dancing around," he said. "It just didn’t look normal. Eventually, they came out, but that was a little weird at first."

Lalas’ biggest issue, however, was with the lighting on Shakira’s legs, which he claimed made it look like she had fish scales. "I don’t know who does their lighting, but somebody needs to get fired," he emphasized. "They did her dirty. This was a bad decision and an unnecessary type of decision."
