Glen Powell Embraces Capybara Meme

Glen Powell Embraces Viral Capybara Meme on ‘Hot Ones Versus’

Glen Powell, the star of the upcoming film ‘Twisters’, has officially embraced the viral capybara meme. During an appearance on ‘Hot Ones Versus’, Powell, 35, and his ‘Twisters’ costar Daisy Edgar-Jones, 26, were challenged to either answer "deeply personal questions" or eat a spicy chicken wing.

During the "Friendship Test" portion of the segment, Powell asked Edgar-Jones, "If I could be any animal, what would I be?" The ‘Normal People’ actress first answered that Powell would be her dog Brisket, before guessing he would be a "bunny" or a "rat", which he found "insulting".

The ‘Hit Man’ actor then answered that he would be a capybara, revealing "the internet thinks I look like a capybara". Edgar-Jones then asked him to do the "capybara face" to show off the resemblance.

Powell laughed off the meme and called the internet a "great place". He even revealed that he "owns the capybara thing now". "I am the capybara," he declared.

The original capybara comparison stemmed from a 2016 photo of Powell that began circulating around the internet back in April 2023. A person on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted that Powell "looks like a capybara who made a wish to become human", leading to his resemblance to the South American animal becoming a meme.

Powell previously addressed the viral meme in an interview on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’ in December 2023.

‘Twisters’ premieres in theaters on July 17.
