Nigerian First Lady Assures Country is in Good Hands Despite Economic Hardship
In a bold statement, Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, has asserted that her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has a deep love for Nigerians and is committed to doing his best for the country, despite the economic challenges the citizens are facing.
Mrs. Tinubu made this announcement during a courtesy visit to the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu. According to her Media Aide, Busola Kukoyi, Mrs. Tinubu assured that President Tinubu will work hard to address the numerous challenges facing the country. "I assure you that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do well for this country," she said. "He loves Nigeria, he loves Nigerians and will do the best for them."
In his own remarks, the Oba of Lagos urged Nigerians to be patient with President Tinubu’s administration. "All that I am saying and appealing is that we should pray for Nigeria and the president. We should be patient. Everything good needs prayers," he said.
These statements come amidst a backdrop of crippling economic hardship, with Nigeria grappling with high headline and food inflation rates of 34.19% and 40.87%, respectively. As a result, many Nigerians are struggling to make ends meet, with purchasing power plummeting as hunger bites harder. In response, Nigerians have planned a nationwide protest starting from August 1, 2024, according to a report by Media Talk Africa.
