Electricity Distribution Company Seeks Help from Nigerian Security Corps to End Vandalism

In a bid to put an end to the vandalism of its installations in Abia state, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) has appealed to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) for assistance. The company’s District Manager, Iwuala Festus Chibueze, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Abia state Command of EEDC in Umuahia.

According to Chibueze, the visit aimed to familiarize the NSCDC with EEDC’s operations and explore ways to collaborate in ending the vandalism of the company’s property in the state. The EEDC Business Manager discussed the vandalism that has been occurring in various electricity distribution stations across the state, expressing confidence that the NSCDC has the capability to provide solutions to the problem and apprehend the criminals responsible.

The Abia state Commandant of NSCDC, Usman Ishaq Alfadarai, appreciated the visit and reassured EEDC of the NSCDC’s commitment to protecting the nation’s critical infrastructure. Alfadarai described the vandalism of electrical distribution infrastructures as a big menace to Nigerian society, and assured the visitors that officers and men of NSCDC will do their best to protect these critical assets.

The appeal by EEDC highlights the growing concern over the vandalism of electrical infrastructure in Nigeria, which has led to power outages and economic losses. The collaboration between EEDC and NSCDC is seen as a crucial step towards addressing this issue and ensuring the smooth supply of electricity to communities in Abia state.
