Nigeria’s CNPP Condemns Threat to Zenith Labour Party Chairman

Nigeria’s Zenith Labour Party Chairman Alleges Threat to Life, Political Party Condemns Act

A shocking threat to the life of Dan Nwanyanwu, the National Chairman of Nigeria’s Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), has sparked condemnation from the Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP). Nwanyanwu, at a recent press conference, accused an agent of Nyesom Wike, the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of Federal Capital Territory, of making the threat.

The CNPP, in a statement made available to our reporter in Taraba State, urged all security agencies to take immediate action to protect Nwanyanwu and ensure his safety. The conference viewed the incident as a stark reminder of the escalating violence and intimidation tactics employed by desperate politicians to silence opposition voices.

"We stand in solidarity with Chief Dan Nwanyanwu and the Zenith Labour Party, and we urge all political parties and stakeholders to join us in condemning this heinous act," the CNPP said. "We will not stand idly by while our democracy is undermined by those who seek to suppress dissenting voices."

The party also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of all political leaders and citizens. Furthermore, the CNPP demanded a thorough investigation into the incident and the arrest of those responsible.

The use of extra-judicial means to gag opposition voices is a dangerous trend that must be stopped immediately, the CNPP emphasized. Nigeria is a democratic nation, and the freedom of expression and association are fundamental rights enshrined in its constitution. Political differences should be resolved through peaceful means, not through violence and intimidation.

The CNPP’s statement has been met with widespread condemnation from politicians and citizens alike, who are calling for the perpetrators of the threat to be brought to justice.
