Nigerian Biochemist Sets New World Record for Longest Videogame Marathon
In a remarkable feat, 24-year-old Oside Oluwole, popularly known as Khoded, has emerged as the new world record holder for the longest videogame marathon. Khoded, a Nigerian biochemist and auto dealer, achieved this impressive record by playing a soccer videogame for an astonishing 75 hours, with over 500 games played.
The Guinness World Record (GWR) made the announcement on social media, praising Khoded’s incredible achievement. The biochemist’s attempt to break the record was not only a personal challenge but also aimed at raising funds for a local hospital in his hometown, Iejbu-Ode.
Khoded’s record shatters the previous 50-hour mark set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022. According to GWR, before Khoded’s record-breaking attempt, no one had broken this record by such a large margin. The record was first set in 2010 with a time of 24 hours and gradually increased to 50 hours after being beaten seven times in 11 years.
Khoded’s achievement is a testament to his dedication, perseverance, and passion for videogames. His remarkable feat has also inspired others to push their limits and strive for greatness.
