Dyson Unveils OnTrac: A New Line of Noise-Cancelling Headphones

Dyson, the company known for its innovative air purification and hair care products, has announced its latest venture into the world of audio technology: the OnTrac headphones. The OnTrac is a new line of noise-cancelling headphones that promises to deliver high-quality sound and comfort, without the hefty price tag of its predecessor, the Zone headphones.

The OnTrac headphones are designed to provide a comfortable and immersive listening experience, with a focus on noise cancellation and audio quality. The headphones feature 40mm, 16-ohm neodymium speaker drivers that can produce a frequency response of 6Hz to 21kHz, covering a wider range of the sonic spectrum than most headphones. The drivers are also angled 13 degrees towards the ears for better acoustic performance.

The OnTrac headphones also boast a unique design, with a focus on ergonomics and comfort. The headphones feature a sleek and modern design, with a combination of premium materials such as aluminum, copper, nickel, and ceramics. The ear cups are designed to provide a snug and comfortable fit, with “ultra-soft microfiber” foam cushions and “multi-pivot gimbal arms” to help increase comfort and relieve pressure.

In terms of noise cancellation, the OnTrac headphones feature eight microphones that sample external sound 384,000 times a second. The microphones work in conjunction with a custom noise-cancelling algorithm and “carefully designed internal geometry” to provide 40dB of noise blocking.

The OnTrac headphones also boast impressive battery life, with up to 55 hours of use with active noise cancellation (ANC) on. A 10-minute charge will provide up to 2.5 hours of use, while a 30-minute charge will provide 9.5 hours of use.

The OnTrac headphones will be available in four colors – aluminum/orange, cooper/blue, black nickel, and ceramic red – from Dyson for $500. Replacement caps and cushions will be available for $50 for a set of two. The headphones will be available from other retailers, but only a few colors will be available from these retailers, so customers may need to purchase from Dyson directly to get the color they want.

Overall, the OnTrac headphones promise to deliver a high-quality listening experience with advanced noise cancellation and comfortable design. With its focus on audio quality and comfort, the OnTrac headphones are sure to be a hit among music lovers and commuters alike.
