Rapper 50 Cent’s 2003 hit track “Many Men” has seen a significant surge in streaming activity in the wake of an assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump’s life in Butler, Pennsylvania. The song, which features 50 Cent’s harrowing lyrics about his own experience of being the target of an assassination attempt, has become a viral sensation across social media platforms, with fans sharing memes and videos related to the violent incident.

According to a report by Billboard, since the incident, which left two people dead, including the shooter, and two others injured, “Many Men” earned over 2.2 million on-demand audio streams from July 13-15, a 250% increase from the previous Saturday-to-Monday period.

50 Cent himself has participated in the trend, sharing memes on social media that feature his own image overlaid on Trump’s on the album cover of Get Rich or Die Tryin’. He also displayed the image on a giant screen during a concert in Boston and wrote on his social media account, “Trump gets shot and now I’m trending.”

The G-Unit boss opened up about his experience with MTV News, stating, “It happens so fast that you don’t even get a chance to shoot back… You can’t move. Your first reaction is to move and then the shots are going off and you’re jumping around the backseat. I was scared the whole time.”

A report by CNN details how Trump’s former White House physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, treated Trump’s injuries, which included a gunshot wound to the ear. Jackson explained, “It just took the top of his ear off, a little bit of the top of his ear off, as it passed through. It was bleeding like crazy.”
