Edo Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, Invited to Join the APC After Attack on His Convoy
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state, Jarrett Tenebe, has called on the reinstated deputy governor of the state, Philip Shaibu, to join the APC. This request comes after Shaibu’s convoy was attacked on Thursday at the Benin airport.
Tenebe made the appeal during a solidarity visit to Shaibu’s private residence in Benin. The APC chairman described the attack as a calculated attempt to take Shaibu’s life, saying that the APC leader had always been concerned about the wellbeing of the deputy governor since the crisis began with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Shaibu was accompanied by some chieftains of the party during the visit. In a statement, Shaibu commended Tenebe for always keeping in touch with him and for lifting his spirit during difficult times.
“We need leaders who care about our citizens and are willing to work with us to build a better future for our state and country,” Shaibu said.
Shaibu also praised Tenebe for his efforts in resolving the party crisis, saying that this level of care is what is needed in leadership.
The APC chairman announced that the party’s flag will be displayed at Shaibu’s office, making it clear that he is welcome to join the party.
The state chairman of the PDP never put a call to me or tried to resolve the party crisis, even when I have demonstrated that I am a core party man. By God’s grace, Sen. Monday Okpebholo and Dennis Idahosa of the APC will be the next governor and deputy in the state, Shaibu declared.
