Former Chelsea Star Tony Cascarino Calls for Enzo Fernandez’s Sale Amid Racist Video Controversy

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino has suggested that Enzo Fernandez will never be forgiven at the west London club and must be sold. Cascarino made the comments in response to a video posted by Fernandez on social media, which showed the Argentine midfielder and his teammates chanting a derogatory song about France’s team.

The video, which was reposted by Fernandez’s teammate Wesley Fofana, sparked outrage and was deemed racist by the French Football Federation. Fernandez later apologized on Instagram, and Chelsea released a statement on the issue.

Speaking on TalkSport, Cascarino expressed concerns about the impact the incident could have on Fernandez’s future at Chelsea. “It’s going to be tricky,” Cascarino said. “I look back at when I was at Chelsea in the 90s and I’m not sure that dressing room would be okay with what Enzo Fernandez did.”

Cascarino believes that the club has a major decision to make about Fernandez’s future. “Having players not happy with a guy in the dressing room, I’m not sure there will be many that comfortable with some of the things that have gone on,” he said.

The former striker also emphasized the importance of forgiveness, but acknowledged that it may be a challenging process. “You don’t need everyone to like each other at a club, but this is a really, really tricky one,” Cascarino said. “Some players won’t want to move on or make it work. He’s going to have to apologise to the squad face-to-face as well and maybe then there will be a bit more forgiveness.”

The controversy surrounding Fernandez’s video has sparked widespread condemnation, and it remains to be seen how Chelsea will handle the situation. With the club’s reputation at stake, Cascarino’s comments serve as a reminder of the importance of addressing racism and promoting inclusivity in the world of football.
