Trump Returns to Twitch Following Republican National Convention

After a nearly two-year absence, former President Donald Trump is once again streaming on Twitch, a popular online video platform. Trump’s ban was lifted following this week’s Republican National Convention, where he secured the party’s nomination for the US presidential election.

According to Twitch, the streaming platform reinstated Trump’s account due to the candidate’s newsworthy status as a presidential nominee. In a statement, a spokesperson emphasized the importance of direct communication with presidential hopefuls. “We believe there is value in hearing from Presidential nominees directly, when possible,” said the spokesperson.

As Trump returns to the platform, he must adhere to Twitch’s community guidelines. The former president has a history of trouble following platform rules, and he will need to conform to the guidelines to maintain his account.

Twitch spokesperson: “We continue to enforce our Community Guidelines and take necessary enforcement action when we identify violations of our rules. Twitch doesn’t have a ‘public figure policy,’ meaning all channels are equally subject to our guidelines, regardless of whether the channel belongs to a public figure.”

Trump is the latest high-profile figure to have their Twitch ban lifted. YouTube, Elon Musk’s X, and Meta have already given Trump permission to return to their respective platforms.

Following his return, Trump may face hot water with Twitch if he fails to comply with the platform’s rules. However, for now, the former president is back online and looking to reconnect with his audience.
