Nigerian Politician Abubakar Mustapha Defects to Ruling Party
In a significant move, Alhaji Abubakar Mustapha, a former National Organizing Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The former head of civil service in Kaduna State made the announcement at an event in his hometown, Gubuchi, Makarfi local government area of Kaduna.
Mustapha was received into his new party by the state APC Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Kawu Ibrahim Yakasai, and Secretary to Kaduna State Government, Dr Abdulkadir Mu’azu Meyere. The defection comes after Mustapha had earlier communicated his official resignation to the PDP chairman of Gubuchi ward in Makarfi LGA, citing personal reasons.
However, Mustapha expressed his gratitude to the PDP for giving him the opportunity to serve in various capacities. He highlighted Governor Uba Sani’s laudable achievements and inclusive leadership as the reasons behind his decision to join the APC.
“I am impressed by Governor Sani’s achievements and inclusive leadership style, which has attracted me to the APC,” Mustapha said. “I pledge to contribute immensely towards achieving the party’s set goals.”
Mustapha’s defection is seen as a significant development in Nigerian politics, with many speculating about the implications for the PDP and APC ahead of future elections.
