50 Cent and Drake Hint at Collaborative Effort; Fans React to Unlikely Alliance
Rapper and entrepreneur 50 Cent has sparked the interest of fans worldwide by suggesting a creative collaboration with fellow musician Drake. The potential partnership comes on the heels of a long-standing beef with 50 Cent’s rival, rapper Kendrick Lamar. On Sunday (July 21), 50 Cent updated fans on his and Drake’s impending business move through a series of brain-storming photos on social media.
The G-Unit founder captioned the post, “Brain [brain emoji] storming last night me and @champagnepapi gonna get the [camera emoji] rolling biggest ting on your TV GLG,” with “GreenLightGang” indicating that the collaborative effort would be brought to the silver screen. The comment section was filled with varying opinions, with some fans expressing excitement and joy, while others injected 50 Cent’s relationship with Kendrick Lamar into the mix.
One Instagram user said, “You can’t do ja rule like that and go hang with the modern-day ja rule.” Another commenter mentioned, “Never seen Drake with 50 Cent in my life before this lol.”
Rapper Kendrick Lamar’s chart-topping song “Not Like Us” remains a point of contention in the ongoing feuds between the three artists. Earlier in May, Drake hinted at seemingly bowing out of the rap beef after weeks of back-and-forth diss tracks. He shared on his Instagram story, “Summer vibes up next.”
Lamar continued the success of “Not Like Us” following a live-streamed performance of the diss record, accompanied by a music video featuring cameos from Mustard, DeMar DeRozan, Tommy the Clown, Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Schoolboy Q, Punch, Top Dawg, and Punch. Lamar’s fiancée, Whitney Alford, and their children also appeared in the clip.
The unlikely partnership between 50 Cent and Drake has left some fans bewildered, with one person saying, “This weird as hell to me because if you fraternize with the enemy 50 cutting you loose. This applied to his own son as well. But Kendrick cool with Dre who cool with Eminem who just so happens to be 50 main man yet here he is Green lighting st with Drake. Practice what you preach nia.”
Time will tell if this unexpected collaborative effort will materialize, given the complex relationships between the three artists involved.
