APGA Crises: Udu Accuses Njoku of Destabilizing Party

A bitter row has erupted within the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) as Deputy National Secretary, Chief Godwin Udu, accused Chief Edozie Njoku of plotting to destabilize the party for his own selfish interests. This development comes as the party is facing a fresh crisis, with Njoku announcing that he has the support of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a Supreme Court order to become the national chairman of the party.

Speaking in a statement, Udu accused Njoku of secretly scheming to become the national chairman of the party ahead of the 2024 Anambra State governorship election. He claimed that Njoku’s sole plan is to sink the party and sell off its assets, describing his actions as “hook-and-crook skirmishes to launch himself into becoming the chairman of APGA.”

Udu further alleged that Njoku is desperate to ascend the national championship of the party to gain the needed grounds to trade off its properties, saying, “Njoku’s sole plan is to sink APGA and sell off what the party has laboured for under Victor Oye and his executives, then lavish the proceeds on whiskey, champagne etc, but we won’t allow that to happen.”

Reacting to the accusations, Njoku denied any wrongdoing, claiming that INEC has recognized him as the national chairman of the party based on the Owerri convention. He accused the current National Working Committee (NWC) of the party as a failure and vowed to reshape and reposition the party very soon.

This latest development comes as the party is already enmeshed in a fresh crisis, with Njoku announcing that he has the support of INEC and a Supreme Court order to become the national chairman of the party. The party, last week, said it filed a lawsuit in an Abuja Federal High Court challenging INEC’s purported failure to provide evidence showing Njoku ever occupied a national office within the APGA.

The crisis within APGA has sparked concerns about the party’s prospects in the 2024 elections, with some party faithful and supporters calling for calm and for the party to resolve its internal conflicts before the elections.
