Enugu State Security Council Warns of Firm Action Against Sit-Home Enforcers
The Enugu State Security Council has issued a stern warning to those planning to enforce any form of sit-at-home in the state, warning them to desist or face the consequences. This warning came amidst a purported threat by the leader of the Autopilot militia group, Simon Ekpa, to enforce a one-week sit-at-home in the state.
According to a statement made by the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Kanayo Uzuegbu, following a meeting of the state’s Security Council, the council described sit-at-home as an aberration in the state, stating that no one has the right to stop anyone else from carrying out their lawful business.
The meeting was presided over by the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, who condemned the Autopilot militia group leader as a businessman, scammer, and common criminal, who has no interest of Ndigbo at heart.
“Any activities or actions by any person or persons that are inimical to the peace of the state, we assure you, they will be ruthlessly dealt with,” said the Commissioner of Police.
The state governor had banned all forms of sit-at-home since taking office in 2023 and reiterated his position, urging people to disregard threats or orders by Simon Ekpa.
The Security Council also announced plans to strengthen the security architecture in the state and position security forces across the state to deal firmly with any criminal element that dares disturb the peace and business of the good people of Enugu State.
“Our men are ready to crush any criminal that tests our resolve to ensure security and order in the state,” emphasized the Commissioner of Police.
