In a significant move to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, the Zamfara State Executive Secretary of Substance Abuse Control and Human Trafficking Agency, Pharmacist Ishaq Ibrahim Anka, has announced that his agency has commenced blocking all channels of hard drugs supplies in the state.

He also stressed that the agency’s primary focus is on arrest, counseling, and prosecution of defaulters, appealing for maximum support from security agencies.

To achieve this goal, the agency has embarked on a familiarization visit, where top officials from the Nigerian Army and police have pledged their support. The Commander of 1 Bridge Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Sani Ahmed, and the State police Commissioner, Mohammad Dalinja, among others, have assured their readiness to partner with the agency.

Anka commended the initiative and effort of the State Government in changing the narrative, acknowledging that the partnership will be crucial in tackling the problem of drug abuse in the state.

This bold move by the Zamfara State government is a significant step towards combating drug abuse and reducing the negative impact it has on society. It is hoped that this effort will be successful in reducing the scourge of drug abuse and promoting a safer and healthier community for all.
