Exercise Camp Highland: Nigerian Defence Academy Conducts Military Training in Kaduna and Plateau Communities
The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has announced the commencement of Exercise Camp Highland in Kaduna and Plateau communities, scheduled to run from July 28 to August 17. According to a statement by Maj. Mohammed Maidawa, the Academy Spokesperson, the exercise aims to assess the leadership skills, application of tactics, and physical fitness of Army cadets of the 71 Regular Course and Direct Short Service Course 28.
The Plateau exercise will take place at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre, Shere Hills, Jos, from July 28 to August 3. Additionally, Map Reading, Tactical Drills, and Battle Inoculation Drills will be conducted in the Kachia general area from August 3 to 16.
Residents living around Shere Hills, Jos, are expected to witness a mass movement of military personnel, vehicles, and equipment in the general area from July 29 to August 2. Similarly, residents of Katul Crossing in Fadan Kamanta axis in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State will observe the same tactical drills involving firing and simulation of small arms and artillery fire from August 12 to 13.
In a statement, the NDA warned residents in the areas mentioned above not to panic, advising them to go about their normal daily routine activities without fear. However, they should report any breach of security to the nearest authorities. Meanwhile, Battle Inoculation, involving live firing of small arms, armour, and artillery weapons, will be conducted on August 16 within the military exercise area near Nigerian Army Base Camp, Kachia.
Locals around Aninkwa, Insane, and neighboring communities are advised to stay away from the live firing area. The exercise aims to assess the preparedness of the cadets for commissioning as officers into the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
