NNPP Unveils Dates for Primary Election in Osun State
The Osun State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has announced the dates for its primary election in preparation for the upcoming local government election in the state. The party has also expressed its readiness to accommodate aspiring youths, citing the need for fresh blood to tackle the various challenges facing Nigeria’s economy.
According to a statement issued by the party’s chairman and acting secretary, Dr. Tosin Odeyemi and Ayegbaju Celestina, respectively, the party has resolved to field capable candidates in all local governments across the state. The primary election is scheduled to hold between August 22nd and 23rd, 2024.
The party believes that the destiny of the people at the grassroots depends on the kind of leadership they have at the council level, and it wants to make a change. NNPP believes that when youths are given the opportunity to serve their people, things will work out smoothly, and there will be unprecedented development.
“We believe that our youths have the ability to lead, and we need to compel sincere youths who are interested in leading their local governments to join our party so as to participate in the party primary,” the statement read.
The party is confident that the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) will conduct a free, fair, and credible election to change people’s initial wrong perception of the commission.
Osun NNPP has vowed to shock the ruling party by mobilizing its members, both old and new, towards winning in the February 22, 2025, local government election.
OSSIEC chairman, Hashim Abioye, recently announced that the local government election in the state is slated for February 22, 2025. Abioye also revealed that the commission plans to recruit electoral officers and assistant electoral officers in preparation for the poll.
The NNPP’s move to accommodate aspiring youths and its confidence in the party’s ability to win the local government election are significant developments in the state’s political landscape. Only time will tell if the party’s strategy will pay off and lead to a change in the political landscape of Osun State.
