Borno State Police Reiterates Ban on Motorcycles and Electric Bikes Due to Security Concerns
The Borno State Police Command has reaffirmed the ban on the use of motorcycles and electric bikes in the state, citing security challenges. According to a statement issued by the command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso, the decision was made at the Borno State Security Council.
The statement revealed that the police have observed a “flagrant use” of motorcycles, especially electric bikes, in the state and are urging the public to adhere to the existing ban on motorcycles. Any individual found in possession of electric or petrol-powered motorbikes will be arrested for violating the order.
In addition to the ban, the statement also warned filling stations to desist from selling petroleum products to customers on motorcycles. According to the statement, any filling station found doing so will be sanctioned and sealed for prosecution.
The police also advised delivery and logistic companies to use tricycles (Keke Napep) instead of motorcycles to carry out their operations in the state. The command emphasized the need for public cooperation to ensure sustainable peace and security in the state.
The ban on motorcycles and electric bikes in Borno State is the latest measure taken by the government to address security concerns in the region. As the state continues to grapple with ongoing security challenges, the police are working to ensure the safety and well-being of citizens.
In this effort, the police are relying on the public to support their efforts by adhering to the existing ban on motorcycles and electric bikes. With the ban in place, citizens can rest assured that the police are doing everything in their power to ensure the state remains a safe and secure environment.
