President Tinubu Assures Nigerians of Economic Reforms, Denies Manipulation
In a bid to allay fears of manipulation by any interest group, President Bola Tinubu has assured Nigerians that his government’s economic reforms are self-sponsored and free from external influence. The President made this declaration during a meeting with a delegation of Islamic leaders led by Sheikh Bala Lau at the State House on Thursday.
According to the President, his campaign was self-sponsored, without strings or indebtedness to any individual or institution. He attributed his victory at the polls to divine intervention, careful planning, and diligence in getting support from Nigerians.
President Tinubu emphasized that his government is committed to reworking the social welfare scheme to reach the ward level, which is the closest to the people. He also announced plans to provide student loans to pay for school fees, monetary support for the education of children, and consumer credit to support citizens in buying cars and houses.
The President warned that protests fueled by anger and hate could degenerate into violence and set the country backwards. He called on Nigerians to be careful with premature politics, hate, and anger, urging them to prioritize the future of their children.
In his remarks, Mr Lau assured the President of support with prayers and more sensitization. He emphasized the importance of peace in the country, citing the biblical example of Abraham, who asked God for peace and guidance.
The President’s assurance comes as his government embarks on a series of economic reforms aimed at reviving the country’s economy. The reforms include increasing the minimum wage by more than 100 percent, providing support for the poor and vulnerable, and promoting economic growth through consumer credit and student loans.
With these reforms, President Tinubu is sending a clear message to Nigerians that his government is committed to their welfare and development. The President’s denial of manipulation by any interest group is also aimed at reassuring Nigerians that his government is working in their best interests.
