Gabriel Afolayan Reveals Upcoming Anikulapo Series

Pulse Nigeria has obtained exclusive details on the upcoming season of the Netflix series “Anikulapo”. In an interview with Nollywire, cast member Gabriel Afolayan revealed that production for the new season will begin around August and will feature multiple locations in different countries, including Ghana.

The series, which was previously a Netflix original film, will premiere its first season on March 1, 2024, exclusively on the streaming platform. The six-part epic series tells the story of Saro racing against time to forestall his fate while returning to the Oyo Kingdom with a near-impossible mission. The cast includes Sola Sobowale, Kunle Remi, Bimbo Ademoye, Jide Kosoko, Lincoln Owo Ogunde, Taiwo Hassan, Gabriel Afolayan, Adewale Elesho, Uzee Usman, and Lateef Adedimeji.

Afolayan also praised the series for its rich storytelling, culturally resonant performances, and visually stunning portrayal of Nigerian folklore and history.

The film version of “Anikulapo” accomplished a remarkable feat by holding the top spot on the Netflix Weekly Global Chart as the most-viewed non-English Netflix original film, garnering over 8 million hours of viewing within 11 days of its debut.
