Senator Alleges Former Critic a “Failed Lawyer”
In a recent interview, Senator Ali Ndume has sparked controversy by labeling a former critic of President Bola Tinubu, Daniel Bwala, a “failed lawyer” and a potential liability to the Nigerian leader.
Bwala, a lawyer by profession, had previously defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2023 election. He recently returned to the APC, which has led to a heated exchange between the two politicians.
Ndume’s scathing remarks came after Bwala accused the senator of being a hypocrite and inciting violence in his senatorial district. In response, Ndume claimed that Bwala is trying to get the attention of President Tinubu and is only viable as a politician because of this.
“I just pray that they will give him something because he’s trying to get something to survive on after being a failed lawyer in Abuja,” Ndume stated in an interview.
Bwala, however, has fired back, labeling Ndume’s comments a “series of lies” and promising to provide “receipts” to support his allegations. In a tweet, Bwala claimed that Ndume had been criticized by his own party for “conduct unbecoming” and that his senatorial district was about to declare him “persona non grata”.
The exchange has sparked significant attention in Nigeria, with both politicians trading barbs over their respective political allegiances.
