Miami Marlins Send Jazz Chisholm Jr. to New York Yankees in Trade
The Miami Marlins have sent 26-year-old infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. to the New York Yankees in a trade, sources confirmed to Yahoo Sports. In return, the Marlins will receive three prospects: catcher Agustín Ramírez, infielder Jared Serna, and infielder/outfielder Abrahan Ramirez.
Chisholm has been with the Marlins since making his MLB debut in 2020, primarily playing second base and center field. He has been a solid, if sometimes inconsistent, contributor for Miami, batting.249 with 13 home runs and 22 stolen bases this season. He is under contract through 2026.
The Yankees, who are struggling lately, are expected to be aggressive in supplementing their roster before Tuesday’s 6 p.m. ET trade deadline. Chisholm’s bat should offer an immediate jolt to the Yankees’ lineup, which has been searching for answers.
For the Yankees, who are in the midst of an 11-23 stretch, any offensive addition is a welcome sight. Chisholm has always showcased a tantalizing offensive skill set and has been named an All-Star once during his career. He has struggled to elevate the ball consistently at optimal angles, but his speed and power make him a valuable addition to the Yankees’ lineup.
The Marlins, at 38-66 and last in the NL East, are expected to be among this deadline’s biggest sellers. The trade deadline is a crucial moment for teams looking to make a push for the playoffs, and the Marlins are likely to be active in the coming days.
