TikTok Book Awards Returns for 2024: BookTok Community to Decide Winners

TikTok’s #BookTok community is once again playing a major role in shaping the literary world. The TikTok Book Awards, which recognize excellence in books, authors, and creators, are back for another year. This year’s awards feature a revised category structure and a new set of contenders vying for the top spots.

The 2024 TikTok Book Awards have unveiled their shortlist, with seven categories that differ slightly from last year. The Book of the Year category has been split into international, UK, and Ireland, and the BookTok Author of the Year category has been replaced with BookTok Breakthrough Author. Additionally, the awards have introduced BookTok Rising Star Creator and TikTok Shop Book of the Year categories.

A panel of judges, including members of the UK literary community, TikTok creator Jack Edwards, and previous winner Eden Victoria, has curated the shortlist. The judges aim to celebrate and recognize the books, independent book shops, authors, and creators that have made the #BookTok community so unique.

The BookTok community will decide on the winners, except for TikTok Shop Book of the Year, which will be determined based on sales data and impact on the app. Voting is open until July 14, and the winners will be announced on July 25.

Last year’s winners included Bolu Babalola’s Honey and Spice, Dolly Alderton’s Everything I Know About Love, and Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice. This year’s shortlist features a range of authors and books, including Lisa Jewell’s None Of This Is True, Lex Croucher’s Gwen & Art Are Not In Love, and Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing.

To cast your vote, visit the TikTok Book Awards in-app voting hub before July 14. Stay tuned for the winners announcement on July 25.
