Breaking News: “BabyFactory” Short Film Wins at African Film for Impact Festival

I’m excited to share with you a recent development in the film industry, folks! According to a post on Instagram by Gbenga Adeoti, the filmmaker behind the critically acclaimed short film “BabyFactory”, the film has won the category for Best Film on Human Trafficking and Migration at the Africa Films for Impact Festival (AFFIF2024).

In the post, Adeoti shared his reluctance to release the film to the public, stating that he has been “very stubborn” about doing so since 2022. However, it appears that his perseverance has paid off, and he is now “very glad” that the film has won the prestigious award.

“BabyFactory” is a powerful and timely film that tackles the issues of human trafficking in Nigeria. The story follows the lives of several young women who seek shelter with a madame who turns them into baby-making slaves. The film shines a light on the dark reality of human trafficking and its devastating consequences.

As the founder of Filmjoint and an alumnus of the EbonyLife Creative Academy, Adeoti is a multi-talented filmmaker with a background in theatre, screenwriting, cinematography, video editing, and event production. His previous works include “Bruised”, “If Only”, and “Sidi”.

The African Film for Impact Festival is dedicated to showcasing and empowering films and filmmakers committed to social change themes in their films. “BabyFactory” is a testament to the impact that filmmaking can have on society, and I look forward to seeing what’s next for this talented filmmaker.
