Nigerian Speaker Urges Youth to Shelve Nationwide Protests, Emphasizes Government’s Commitment to Addressing Their Concerns

In a bid to address the growing concerns of the Nigerian youth, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has appealed to the planners of the nationwide protests to shelve their actions in the interest of the country and its citizens. The Speaker made this appeal in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Krishi.

According to the statement, Abbas acknowledged the frustrations and reservations of the Nigerian youth, saying that the government of President Bola Tinubu is not relenting in its efforts to bring succour to Nigerians. The Speaker emphasized that the House of Representatives has taken measures to continuously engage the youth to hear their earnings and aspirations, to address them.

Abbas expressed empathy with the youth, saying that the country is facing challenging times, and the economic pressures, social uncertainties, and other related concerns weigh heavily on the nation. He assured the youth that their concerns are taken with the utmost seriousness by the government and that they are committed to listening, engaging, and working with them to find sustainable solutions to the issues that confront them.

The Speaker highlighted several initiatives taken by the government to address the needs and aspirations of the youth, including the introduction of student loans to ease the burden of educational expenses and the provision of access to funds for young entrepreneurs through various schemes. He also emphasized the government’s focus on job creation and skills development, aiming to enhance employability and create sustainable livelihoods.

Abbas urged the youth to remember that nation-building is a collective task and that they must shun violence and embrace dialogue. He acknowledged their right to protest and encouraged them to use legitimate avenues to express their grievances and work together towards constructive solutions.

In conclusion, the Speaker reaffirmed the commitment of the House of Representatives to stand with the youth, work with them, and ensure that their future is bright.
