Gianni Infantino, the President of FIFA, has confirmed that football federations from Morocco, Spain, Argentina, Portugal, and Uruguay have submitted their bidding books to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup. The federation has also received a bid from Saudi Arabia for the 2034 edition of the tournament.

The bidding books were officially submitted to FIFA on Wednesday, July 31st, and will be published on the organization’s website. The Extraordinary FIFA Congress will settle the appointment of the hosts for both tournaments in Q4 later this year.

The Italian-speaking President Infantino confirmed the receipt of the bids while speaking from Paris ahead of the publication of the proposals. He expressed that the discussions surrounding the hosting of the World Cup are intense, stating, “When it comes to winning the right of hosting the (FIFA) World Cup, we know that the discussions are very fierce.”

The main hosts for the 2030 tournament, which commemorates the 100th anniversary of the World Cup, include Morocco, Spain, and Portugal, as well as Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, who will stage the opening three games of the tournament.
