Simone Biles’ Historic Win: Jonathan Owens Supports Wife at 2024 Paris Olympics

In a historic moment, Simone Biles, the American gymnast, won her eighth Olympic medal, becoming the most decorated American gymnast in the history of the Olympics. Her husband, Jonathan Owens, a safety for the Chicago Bears, was there to cheer her on, showcasing their strong bond and support for each other.

Owens, 29, was spotted sitting with the Biles family during the competition, taking notes of his spouse’s performance. After Biles won her latest gold medal, Owens shared a heartfelt message on Instagram, writing, "Witnessing history every time you step on the mat." He also praised his wife, saying, "Congrats baby on becoming the most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history!!!! Just wow!!!! 8 of them!!!!! So thankful I was there to see it."

Biles, 27, has already won 38 combined world and Olympic medals, making her the most decorated gymnast in history from any country. She and her teammates, Sunisa Lee, Jordan Chiles, and Jade Carey, won the gold medal in the artistic gymnastics event with a total score of 171.296, beating out Italy, the silver medalists, by nearly six points.

Biles’ victory was met with excitement and relief, as she described feeling a sense of "whew" after finishing her vault. "But I did feel a lot of relief. And, as soon as I landed, I was like, ‘Oh yeah, definitely we’re going to do this.’ Yeah, that’s definitely what I was thinking," she said.

Owens’ presence at the Olympics was made possible due to a special arrangement with the Chicago Bears, who allowed him to miss practice to watch his wife compete. "Just because we respect the Olympics," explained Bears Head Coach Matt Eberflus. "That is a big deal. And he’s just supporting the one he loves the most. And I think that’s so cool that he gets to do that. We welcome that and it’s going to be awesome. Go USA."

The Biles family, including her parents, Nellie and Ronald, were also in attendance to support their daughter. Simone’s historic win is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and passion for the sport.

With her latest victory, Biles continues to inspire and amaze fans around the world, and her husband, Jonathan Owens, is proud to be by her side, cheering her on and supporting her every step of the way.
