Egyptian Minister Urges Swift and Unconditional Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

In a meeting with the UN Senior Humanitarian and Reconstruction Coordinator for Gaza, Sigrid Kaag, in Doha, Qatar, Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Egyptian Expats Badr Abdel Aaty emphasized the need for rapid and unconditional delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza. The minister’s visit to Qatar took place on Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Abdel Aaty stressed the importance of overcoming the obstacles that hinder the delivery and distribution of aid in the Gaza Strip, citing the need to implement UNSC resolution no. 2720. He also condemned all attempts to target aid workers and reiterated the crucial role of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) in the region.

Kaag, on the other hand, highlighted the significance of coordination between Egypt and the UN in addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, particularly in regards to humanitarian and rescue efforts. She expressed hope that the aid delivery process would improve in the coming period.

The situation in Gaza remains dire, with the Palestinian people facing an unprecedented humanitarian disaster. The swift and unconditional delivery of aid is crucial to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
